History
The Clay Castle in Valea Zanelor was built following the decision of a couple to sell their house near Bucharest and buy a plot of land, 40 kilometers from Sibiu, in Porumbacul de Jos.
The two turned to an architect and craftsmen from Maramureș, who erected the construction that leaves any tourist with the impression of being in a fairy tale world. It is built entirely from natural materials, such as a mixture of earth, water, straw, clay and sand. On the outside, it was plastered with lime and sand, and the turret with river stone.
