Street dogs in Romania
(12 September 2019)
Unfortunately it’s not a pleasant subject and it’s right, almost everywhere in Romania there are many dogs running more or less out of control. Usually they are not dangerous, but you should always be careful, don’t leave small children alone and don’t try to carry your dog. Especially if it is not one, but a whole pack.
Some cities such as B. Galati (about 350,000 inhabitants) charge an annual dog fee to companies and thus ensure that dogs are caught and brought in either to animal shelters in the city or abroad. The dogs are also registered (ear tags) and sterilized.
Despite everything, these dogs are poor, homeless animals. Here are some photos of familiar animals we meet again and again. In the meantime we have become almost good friends, as these dogs are usually very grateful for water or some food. Well … more grateful than many people, no matter in which country in Europe these people live.
