Bran Castle (in German: Törzburg) is located in the Transylvania region, in Brașov County.
Regardless of whether Dracula (if he ever existed ) or his “human” counterpart (Vlad III Draculea, Vlad the Impaler) lived here or not… the castle and the entire region are definitely worth a visit.
We thank Castelul Bran for the permission to use these images.

Near the city of Anina lies the Bigar Waterfall, which was formed from travertine (limestone tuff) and, in 2013, topped the list of the world’s most impressive waterfalls on the World Geography website.
A large free-standing travertine slab collapsed under its own weight on June 7, 2021. Since then, the appearance of the waterfall has changed, but it remains well worth a visit.

Pictures of Cluj-Napoca (in German Klausenburg, in Hungarian Kolozsvar) from June 29 and 30. The city is (probably*) the second largest city in Romania and the capital of Cluj County in Transylvania.
With a population of around 400,000, Cluj-Napoca is the unofficial capital of the Transylvania region. There are universities, a lively nightlife and many buildings from the times of Hungarian and Saxon rule. Around the main square Piata Unirii are the Gothic St. Michael’s Church and an equestrian statue of King Matthias Corvinus, who lived in the 15th century. The baroque Banffy Palace is now a museum displaying Romanian art.

Pictures from August in previous years, which will soon be repeated. The sun is shining, it will get very hot, and the water is wonderfully fresh.
The Romanian seaside stretches for about 70 km and includes, besides Vama Veche, places like Constanta, Mamaia, Mamaia-Sat, Eforie Nord and Sud, Costinesti, Olimp, Neptun, Mangalia, and several others. There are also long (and deserted) beaches in the Danube Delta region, between Sulina and Sf. Gheorghe. The total length of the Romanian Black Sea coast is about 280 kilometers.
Our destination (the pictures) was Vama Veche , the southernmost place on the Romanian Black Sea coast, just a few hundred meters from the border with Bulgaria.
Vama Veche is mainly visited by a younger crowd; it is the party zone, the so-called “Malle” of Romania, with about 3,000 to 4,000 visitors on weekends and loud music around the clock.

June 1st, Children’s Day, is, as in many other countries around the world, also a public holiday in Romania and today is also a Sunday.
We wish all children, whether small or big , a wonderful, eventful, and happy day… and that we adults never forget that not only today, but actually every day of the year should be a day for our children!
