Radauti is once again dressed for celebration and warmly invites you to one of the city's most beautiful and representative events: the Radauti City Days and the 33rd International Folklore Festival “Arcanul”, taking place from June 29 to July 5, 2026.
For one week, our town will become a meeting place for tradition, culture, faith, and the joy of being together. The program begins on June 29 with the religious procession in honor of Saint Leontius of Radauti, a moment of profound spiritual significance for the entire community.
From July 3 to 5, Radauti will host the International Folklore Festival “Arcanul”, a prestigious event bringing together folklore ensembles from Romania, the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine, Poland, Serbia, Greece, Türkiye, Algeria, and Portugal. The traditional costume parade, folklore performances, and artistic shows by the guest groups will transform the town into a true capital of traditions and multiculturalism.
The artistic program for the City Days will feature performers loved by audiences of all ages. On Saturday, July 4, Cleopatra Stratan and Lidia Buble will perform, while on Sunday, July 5, Melina, What’s UP, and 3 Sud Est will take the stage, promising two evenings full of entertainment, emotion, and energy.
The celebrations will also include the sports competition “Micul Trialist”, aimed at young cycling enthusiasts and promoting an active and healthy lifestyle.
We warmly invite you to celebrate with us the identity, values, and beauty of our community. Let us enjoy the traditions, culture, music, and the authentic spirit of Radauti together.

Șiria (in Hungarian Világos, in German Hellburg) is a commune in Arad County.
On the territory of today’s commune, there was already a settlement called “Villa Siri” in 1169. Vilagosvar was mentioned in documents in 1326, referring to the Vilagos fortress, today the Șiria castle ruins.
Part of Șiria’s history is the story of the 13th-century castle ruins. In 1444, the fortress briefly came into the possession of John Hunyadi, and in the second half of the 15th century, it passed to Matthias Corvinus. For strategic reasons, the Habsburg army destroyed the fortress in 1784.
Today, the castle ruins are a popular excursion destination 🥰

Beautiful pictures of the pilgrimage church of Maria Radna in Lippa (Lipova in Romanian) in the county of Arad.
The church was raised to the status of a basilica and is considered the most important place of pilgrimage for Catholics in the Banat and Banat Highlands because of its miraculous image. Romanians, Hungarians, Germans, Bulgarians, Croats, Czechs and Slovaks from Romania regularly come to this place for pilgrimages and visits.
We would like to thank Mr. Frank Schleßmann for sending us these beautiful pictures and the corresponding text / information.

Nadlac, in Slovak Nadlak. Border town in Romania, located in Arad County. The largest minority in the town are the Slovaks. The evangelical church is the largest in the area and has a very vibrant community life.

Cycling through Romania | Banat Region

A wonderful journey by bicycle through Romania in the summer of a previous year. The part presented here passes through the counties of Arad, Timiș, and Caraș-Severin.
The route: Nadlac (in the west, border with Hungary) > Arad > Lipova (the bridge, a bit adventurous) > Timisoara (in German Temeswar) > Pischia (in German Bruckenau) > Moravita > Gradinari.
We thank Mr. Franz Bauer for granting permission to use these pictures. In the summer of 2021, he visited almost all of Romania by bicycle, and we have reported and will continue to report on this journey.

The city of Oradea ( Hungarian: Nagyvarad ) is the capital of the Bihor district in northwestern Romania.
The city is first mentioned as a seat of the Roman Catholic bishop in document 1080 ( of 1113 ) and belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary. After the First World War, Oradea left for the Great Romania and later back to Hungary. It was recaptured in October 1944 and has been part of Romania since then.
Just a few kilometers away are Băile Felix ( German: Bad Felix ), an internationally renowned spa town with hot springs. Famous guests of the bathroom included Marlene Dietrich, Charlie Chaplin and the painter Salvador Dali. Today Bad Felix is the largest spa town in Romania with 200 springs.

Mausoleum from Mateias | Arges County

The Heroes' Mausoleum in the commune of Valea Mare-Pravat in Arges County is dedicated to the heroes of the National Integration War between 1916 and 1918. The building houses the remains of over 2,300 Romanian soldiers in 31 crypts.
The mausoleum was built between 1928 and 1935 according to the plans of architects Dumitru Ionescu-Berechet and State Balosin, by the builder De Nicolo. Mainly Albesti limestone was used for the construction.
Between 1980 and 1984, the mausoleum was expanded by the construction of a parade terrace, imposing access stairs, museum rooms, a bas-relief 16 m long and 3.5 m high. The Albesti stone cup was also erected, in which an eternal flame burns in memory of the fallen heroes in Mateias.

Soimos is a place in western Romania, which belongs to the small town of Lipova in Arad County. Its most striking feature is the medieval castle ruin located high above the Mures Valley.
To visit the castle ruins, you have to climb a hill about 250 meters high, located to the east of the village. The oldest part of the castle is the keep, and the courtyard covers an area of 35 × 22 meters. On the north side of the Renaissance wing, there is still a balcony, known as the Isabella Balcony, named after Isabella Jagiellonica, who lived here from 1541. In the southern part of the complex, there is a knight’s room and a chapel.
