More details
At the beginning of the 19th century, the building was renovated in neoclassical style, with an additional floor and a beautiful balcony. Over the years, the castle has undergone multiple interior and exterior transformations. After being confiscated by the communists in 1948, like all other royal properties, the castle returned to the Royal House on June 1, 2001. Princess Margareta is leading the restoration of the park and castle in the same style created in 1943 by Queen Mother Elena.
The property is surrounded by an arboretum. The arboretum surrounding the castle was established by Vice-Count Andras Forray, who owned land in the Săvârșin area. This park covers an area of 6.5 hectares and contains several rare species of trees and shrubs, declared natural monuments: silver fir, spruce, pyramidal thuja, swamp cypress, Chinese acacia, Himalayan pine, Turkish hazel, centuries-old oaks, and many others.
Among the attractions you will find in the Royal Village are: the Royal Automobile Museum, King Michael’s Auto Workshop, the Guest House, the Tea House, and the Souvenir Shop.
