The church building is the only baroque building in the city, the altar is made of wood and gilded, the stained glass windows were built in Budapest, and the organ comes from Timisoara. The church houses statues of St. Peter, St. Paul, St. Anna and St. Anthony of Padua
Priest Ignatius Wagensei asked Empress Maria Theresa for support for the construction of this church, and construction began in the summer of 1776. In 1787 the church was consecrated by the bishop of Transylvania, Ignatie Batthyany.

Throughout its history, it has been attacked and rebuilt time and again, and was even an important point of defense during the First World War. Originally, there was only the fortress tower. From 1630-1631 the outer fortress was built. The horseshoe-shaped central tower has three floors and served several purposes over the centuries: it was used as a storehouse, was a prison for Turkish prisoners in the 18th century, and was also used as a fortress.
In the 18th century it was a prison for Turkish prisoners and later, during the plague, a special ward was set up for the sick.

For the hike: Sturdy shoes highly recommended. Partly it goes over tree trunks, small wooden bridges and loosely laid stones or you walk directly in the creek bed or on a stony path. In any case, you should also take something to drink with you.

Rupea Fortress was a refuge for the population of surrounding villages in the repeated sieges of Turks and Tartars. It was built in 1324 during the Saxon uprising against the Hungarian king Carol Robert of Anjou.
Later, residents added three defensive towers and two courtyards to the first building, which served as a shelter. In the first courtyard there is a deep well of 59 meters, which still carries water to this day.

The bastion, defended and maintained by Leinenwebergilde, was built in two stages between 1421 - 1436 and 1570 - 1573. In the first phase, the first two levels of the three battle galleries were built. The upper galleries, built between 1570 and 1573, were intended for small arms that could be used through narrow, circular holes along the entire path of the galleries. Two watchtowers were built for the guard, who monitored the city both militarily and in terms of observing possible fires.
After the restoration, Weberbastei was transformed into a museum.

In the village of Poiana Brașov there is a ski resort with the same name, with slopes and hiking trails in the Postavarul mountains. There is an ice sports hall, an indoor leisure center and a sports complex for tubes and slides, as well as many other leisure activities.

Relaxed parking in Brăila 🥰
The city of Brăila is located in southeastern Romania and has approximately 150,000 inhabitants. There is always enough parking in the center and ...
Neighboring city, Galati ... 😅
The city of Galati is also located in southeastern Romania and is the neighboring town of Brăila with approximately 300,000 inhabitants. In many parts of the city ( center, but also in peripheral areas ) parking spaces are required ( Monday to Saturday, every 8:00 - 20:00 clock ). Payment can be made via the parking machine on the site or via SMS ( Romanian phone number required ). IMPORTANT: On average, it only takes a short time to find an elegant, yellow or orange immobilizer 😅 on the front wheel. Depending on the time of day, 200 or 300 lei ( approximately 40 or 60 euros ) are then due for removal.
Kronstadt ( Brasov ), take / plan your search time
In the center or close to the center of Brașov ( Brasov ) is almost at any time of the day it is not easy to find a parking space. There are few parking spaces and due to many restrictions ( unique streets ), you may need to find a parking space. You really shouldn't rush here! Parking spaces are subject to a fee ( Monday to Saturday, 8:00 - 20:00 watch ) and can be through the parking machine on the site ( usually only one or two hours ) or. through the ( application also 24 hours / one day ). There are also paid parking spaces in Brașov throughout the city, so always pay attention to the appropriate signs.
Bucharest ... without words 🙈
Parking in Bucharest is easy, either in the hotel parking lot or 20 km outside the city 😁 Anyone who has ever been in Bucharest, will quickly notice ... you need a lot of time, patience and also a certain serenity towards the driving style, which here is similar to some Italian cities. In many districts, center, shopping malls and more, traffic is usually quite rough ( Navi: in 800 meters you have reached your destination. Expected travel time: 48 minutes ). Parking is due and can usually be paid on site, via SMS ( Required Roman telephone number ) or by application. Depending on the district ( the old town ), it is very difficult or at extreme prices ( 300 lei ( 60 euro ) for 24 hours. on a „ private parking ” to find a parking space. Find a hotel with free parking and walk or use a taxi / Uber or bus / metro, it's worth it!
In rural areas and small towns
Here it is almost always very relaxed, park, point 😊 But please always take a look at any clues ( usually near targets / destinations ). It can also be charged there.
More cities, experiences for parking in Romania are welcome as comments!
And on the side: RO Vignette..., in order to use the highway, but also the country roads ( so it is mandatory for each car ) you need a winery. Vignette ( RO Vignettes ) can be purchased and paid online ( German area ) one month in advance (, so before the holiday ). Costs are also manageable and ok. For a car, 3 euros for 7 days, 7 euros for 30 days, 13 euros for 90 days and / or 28 euros for a whole year. The rental cars already have this vign, but they still ask ...

It was originally a military defensive fortress built on a rock with a rectangular plan. Over time, many structural changes have been made in this fortress, including the south tower, built in 1622 according to Gabriel Bethlen's plans, the rectangular tower in the east and between 1883 and 1886 the roof was also covered with tiles for the first time.
...and it is said that it is the castle of Count Dracula of Transylvania ( was )...

It is located northwest of the town / castle Rupea ( in German: Reps ) and southeast of the town of Sighisoara ( in German: Schäßburg ). Between the 18th and 20th centuries, the village had about 700 inhabitants, mainly Transylvanian Saxons, plus a Romanian part of the village. Viscri characterizes both the fortified church and the structure of the village characterized by Saxon courtyards.

Flora and fauna are original and diverse and in addition to bears ( two thirds of Europe's bear population lives in the forests here ) you can also meet wild boars, foxes and owls during the day with a little luck. The experience of meeting people from this region or seeing traces of a wild boar leaving them on the tree, carrying traces in the grass, a young bear or small Ural owls live, remains unforgettable.
The images were made in Piatra Craiului National Park ( German: Königstein, Landkreis Brașov and Argeș ) by Udo Krauss, who provided it to us. Thank you 😊 Mr. Krauss works as a tour guide and leads small groups on day trips or several days in this area ( if interested: Mr. Krauss speaks German and can reach the Carpathmountains@gmx.de ).

The fortress was built as part of a defense system for Transylvanian villages. Today's medieval fortress was probably built between 1211 and 1225 during the rule of the German knights of Burzenland.

This region above Törzburg and below the Törzburg Pass - an important pass of the Carpathians - was probably settled in the late 17th century. The place Širnea was mentioned for the first time in 1729.
After Şirnea belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary, the Principality of Transylvania and Austria-Hungary until the end of the First World War, since then it has been part of Romania.

We wish and hope that this winter will be a time of sanity, peace and, above all, health for everyone.

The bastion, defended and maintained by the linen weavers' guild, was built in two stages between 1421-1436 and 1570-1573. In the first phase, the first two levels of the three battle galleries were built. The upper galleries, built between 1570 and 1573, were intended for small arms that could be used through narrow, circular bullet holes throughout the galleries. Two guard towers were built, which monitored the city both militarily and in terms of possible fires.
After the restoration, the weavers' bastion was transformed into a museum.
