Ethnographic Museum of Transylvania

The Museum (Ethnographic Museum) is located in the city of Cluj-Napoca and was founded in 1922 by Professor Romulus Voia. It has over 40,000 traditional farm objects from the 17th-20th centuries and a documentary film archive with over 80,000 contributions.

The museum consists of two sections. “Romulus Vuia” enthographic pavilion and park (outdoor area). The pavilion department is located in the “Reduta” palace, a historical monument from the 16th century.

Regarding the term / museum: Ethnography or ethnography (ancient Greek ethno, foreign people, graphic, written: “Völkerbeschreibung”) attempts to describe the coexistence, social and political organization and cultural characteristics of a demarcated society from the point of view of its members.
