Our inspiration for Valea Verde Retreat was the Italian ,,albergo diffuso” or ,,scattered hotel”, which brought to life many historical small towns and nowadays breathes life into dwindling villages. As the renown British magazine Condé Nast Traveler put it – ,,The Albergo diffuso is about rediscovering tradition in a globalized world.( … ) It’s Like being given the key to a community”! We set out to do the same in Cund with our renovated houses in the village, which embrace local traditions with some modern additions. Through this carefully balanced mixture we hope to provide our guests with an inspiring travel experience full of new local flavors! It is our aim to make everyone’s stay here as comfortable as possible. However, all our houses are old Saxon farmhouses, which have not been build to host guests, but families, and the needs of the former occupants were quite different from those that we and our guests have.

We have spent many years renovating the most beautiful farmhouses Transylvania has to offer, giving them a new lease of life, in Cund village, Romania. Today, our guests can enjoy comfortable apartments in the main building, located next to the restaurant, each with its own separate entrance and a spacious patio, or in the houses and holiday homes spread in the village. Those seeking to take a deeper plunge into rural life will be charmed by our double rooms or renovated country houses in the village. In the process of infusing tradition with today’s spirit, our guiding motifs were to preserve local accents (burning stove, handmade wood furniture), reintegrate old values into modern life and manifest our lifelong passion for details. All village lodgings are licensed by the Romanian Tourism Authority and classified with 2 or 3 “daisies” (the classification system for rural tourism accommodation).

At the Valea Verde Restaurant we have set out to create a relaxed, yet cozy and refined dining environment. Set in a restored old barn, Valea Verde Restaurant is the perfect place to relax and enjoy a delicious lunch or dinner at the end of a day of exploring Transylvania. We offer you a unique culinary experience, right in the middle of nature, in a beautiful meadow or on a hillside where you can admire even on very clear days even the Carpathian Mountains. Our work has led to international interest by food and wine critics from Austria, Germany, the UK and Scandinavia, which recommend Valea Verde as an outstanding international destination for food and wine lovers. We always serve a daily menu of delicious, made of local produce either as a three, five or seven course menu.

Activities and activities prepared for Valea Verde guests include the SPA, Wine Cabin with wood hot tub, The Observatory, horse riding, truffle hunting, the artificial pond, carriage rides, cycling or vintage cars.
