The first flowers of the steppe peonies (Paeonia tenuifolia) usually bloom in May in the nature reserve in Zau de Campie (photos: 2022).

The nature reserve is located on the territory of the municipalities of Zau de Campie and Valea Larga in Mures County, near the border with Cluj County.

Ugron Castle in Zau de Campie 🥰😍😍

The castle of Zau de Câmpie was built according to the model of a calendar. It has 365 windows depending on the days, according to the seasons 4 towers, 52 rooms for weeks per year, 7 terraces for days of a week and 12 hallways for months of a year. The castle is characterized by an unfulfilled love story between the owner and a Russian princess.

The owner of the castle, Count Istvan Ugron, the Austro-Hungarian ambassador to Russia, fell in love with one of the daughters of the Russian Tsar Nicholas II however, he could not meet all the expectations and requirements of the princess (including paving the way to the castle with gold coins) and thus stopped courting her.

Currently, it is planned to renovate the castle so that it can be used for various purposes in the future.
