Evangelical church since the Reformation. Regular German-language services are held here. There are also many concerts throughout the year.

Bistritz, Romanian Bistrita, Hungarian Beszterce, in the county of Bistrita-Nasaud, in the north of Transylvania, is the capital of the so-called Nösnerland.

The town's landmark is the Protestant parish church with the highest church tower in Romania (75 m). The church was badly damaged in a major fire in 2008. The extensive restoration and renovation work was completed this year. From the tower of the parish church, which can be reached by elevator, you have a fantastic view over the town and the surrounding mountains.

Bistrița is also the last place mentioned in Bram Stoker's "Dracula" for the journey to Transylvania. This is where the "guest" Jonathan Harker boards the carriage sent by Count Dracula to be taken over hills and valleys to his castle 🧛‍♂️.

Cascade of the Horses is one of the most beautiful and with 90 meters of drop, also the largest waterfall in Romania, which is located on the northern slope of the Rodna Mountains ( here actually falls 😊 )

Das im Talkessel Canyon ( auf Deutsch Pferdeschlucht ) gesammelte Wasser des Flusses Izvorul Cailor fließt in mehreren Kaskaden über die Podul Cailor ( Pferdebrücke ), einen steilen ab Kalksteinfels. The waterfall is located at an altitude of approx. 1,300 meters near Borsa resort ( Maramureș county ), close to the border with Bistrita-Nasaud county.

The waterfall is accessible on foot by Borsa, as well as from the upper areas of the Rodna Mountains. In addition, there is a ( chairlift starting only for a group of at least 10-15 people ) with which you can start from Borsa resort in approx. 15 minutes to reach the waterfall.
