From northeastern Romania (Bacau) it heads north-northeast to Botosani.

Countless churches and monasteries are on this path and we can only show a small selection here.

Botosani is the birthplace of many Romanian poets and thinkers. Here were born the poet Mihai Eminescu, the composer George Enescu, the painter Stefan Luchian, the mathematician Octav Onicescu and many others.

The city has about 100,000 inhabitants and is a green oasis with many historic buildings, located in the Eastern Carpathians and adjacent to Moldavia and Ukraine.

The city of Dorohoi with approximately 25,000 inhabitants is located in the north-east of Romania, in Botosani county. From December 31 to January 3, groups (Banda Română) from individual neighborhoods parade through the city and surrounding areas dressed in costumes to preserve the traditional customs of this area.

Each neighborhood has its own motto/motif and works on costumes throughout the year. Thanks to Lupu Cezar for the information about this custom and we look forward to receiving much, much more information about it in the future.
