Curtea de Arges is a Romanian town in Arges County. It is located on the right bank of the Arges River, which flows here through a valley of the Southern Carpathians.
It is one of the oldest towns in Romania. According to a tradition, it was founded in the 14th century by Prince Radu Negru, who named it the first capital of the Principality of Wallachia.
The Cathedral of Curtea de Arges (Manastirea Curtea de Arges, Catedrala Curtea de Arges) is one of the most famous buildings in Romania. It stands on the foundations of a monastery and is located about one and a half kilometers north of the city. It resembles a very large and ornate mausoleum and was built in Byzantine style with Moorish arabesques.

Săpânța Monastery, also known as Peri Monastery, is located in northern Romania, in Maramureș County.
In 1391, Dragoș Vodă's grandchildren donated the land and the estates on which the monastery, a stone church, was built. This stone church served as the seat of the Romanian Diocese of Maramureș for more than 300 years and was later built by Master Ioan Macarie as a place of prayer for the Greek Catholic community in the area.
The tower of the monastery church is 78 meters high, being the third tallest tower of the church in Romania, after the Orthodox Cathedral in Timișoara and the Church of St. Michael in Cluj-Napoca.

Here in the picture: Parliament Palace ( People's Palace ), Boulevard and Union Park, Cathedral of the Salvation of the Nation ( left behind the parliament building ).
With almost 2 million inhabitants, Bucharest is one of the ten largest cities in the European Union.

This weekend is Easter in Romania, the Orthodox Easter festival.
The highlight is the Resurrection Mass on the night of Easter Sunday, when the faithful wait in front of the cathedrals with a candle in their hands for the Easter light ... and then take it home to their own families.

Karlsburg in German, Alba Iulia in Romanian, Gyulafehervar in Hungarian is a town in the historic region of Transylvania in Romania.
This former fortress is home to the Romanian Orthodox Cathedral, where Romanian kings and queens were crowned, as well as the Catholic Episcopal Cathedral and the Great Hall, where the proclamation of the unification of Transylvania and Banat with the Kingdom of Romania was proclaimed in 1918. The entire fortress is on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
We would like to thank Mr. Frank Schleßmann for sending us these beautiful pictures and the corresponding text/explanation.

On the road from Sibiu to Brașov is the city of Fagaras, at the end of the 12th century the castle was just a wooden fortress, which was built in the 14th century. the century was extended to a stone fortress.
The castle includes a museum that can be visited, as well as the castle. Right next to the fortress is the cathedral / church of St. John the Baptist.

On the way between Sibiu and Brasov lies the town of Fagaras and you should definitely plan a visit to the 14th century fortress (Cetatea Fagarasului) and the cathedral (Catedrala Sfantul Ioan Botezatorul), both of which are right next to each other.

Gheorghe / Mitropolia Veche Church is an Orthodox church in Iași, which was built between 1761 and 1769 by Metropolitan * Gavriil Callimachi and serves as a Metropolitan Cathedral*.
* Since early Christianity, the Metropolitan Office refers to a senior bishop who chairs an association of dioceses and is based in a provincial capital (ancient Greek: μητρό ▉ λις, mētrópolis, mother town) (see). Today, the metropolitan's office still exists in the Roman Catholic Church, as well as in the Orthodox Churches, through which the legal structure differs (quote: Wikipedia)

Metropolitan Cathedral is located in the city of Iasi in northeastern Romania and is the headquarters of the Romanian Orthodox Archbishop of Iasi and the Metropolitan of Moldova and Bukovina. It is the largest historical Orthodox church in Romania and dedicated to Saint Parascheva, the representation of Jesus and Saint George.
Saint Parasheva, also known as Paraschiva, is a Romanian martyr who is revered in the Romanian Orthodox Church and is the patron of the Moldovan region in Romania. Their day of remembrance is October 14, this is the date of their death in the 11th century. In 1641 their relics were brought to Iasi, which is located in the Metropolitan Cathedral of 1889.
Every year, on the anniversary of death ( and a few days before ) 10,000 and more believers from all over Romania and other countries make a pilgrimage to Iasi to honor, pray and ask for salvation and support.

Holy Trinity Orthodox Cathedral ( "Holy Trinity Cathedral" in Romanian ) is located in Arad, in western Romania. It is the main cathedral of the episcopal headquarters in Arad in the district of the same name.
The foundation stone of this cathedral was laid at the end of 1991 by Bishop Timothy, who was completed in 2006. The five church bells have a total weight of 6.5 tons ( 6,500 kg ) and were manufactured by an Innsbruch foundry ( Austria ).

Victoriei Square (formerly Opera Square) is one of the central squares of Timisoara (in German: Temeswar, Temeschwar and also Temeschburg). It is the place where Timișoara was declared the first free city of Romania on December 20, 1989 during the Romanian Revolution (the overthrow of the Romanian dictator Nicolae Ceaușescu).
In the opposite corners of the square are the Opera to the north and the Metropolitan Cathedral (Cathedral of the Three Holy Hierarchs) to the south. From the opera to the cathedral, the promenade on the right is called "Corso" and the one on the left is called "Surrogate". Around the market there are cultural institutions such as the Romanian Opera, the National Theater, the Hungarian State Theater, the German State Theater, the Metropolitan Cathedral, the Timiș cinemas, the Banat Museum, the art galleries and many more….

The "Ascension of the Lord" Orthodox Cathedral is the largest religious structure in Târgu Mureș, Mureș district in central Romania (Seven castles). It was built between 1925 and 1934 at the initiative of Archpriest Stefan Rusu in the city center (the place of today's Roses).

Galați, is the final destination in the "Destination of the Year 2022" competition in the "City Break" category.
Galaţi is the capital of the district of the same name, in the region of Moldova in southeastern Romania.
It was frequented by royal families and was one of the richest cities in Romania in the past. Today, Galați is a well-known port city and always worth visiting. In addition to the botanical garden, the zoo, many parks and museums, churches and much more, the 2 km promenade offers a wonderful view of the Danube, which is up to 900 meters wide in places.
