Slănic Moldova is a small town in Bacău County, in the region of Moldova in northeastern Romania.

The small town is also known as a health resort with saline medicinal springs in Târgu Ocna. Slănic is also the name of an important state salt (state salt mine) in Wallachia.

Târgu Ocna Salt Mine is located in Târgu Ocna resort in Bacău county. It is the third largest salt mine and one of the oldest salt mines in Romania, hosting the largest respiratory disease treatment facility in the country, the Trotuș mine at a depth of 240 m. Also in this mine is one of the few places of worship in Romania, which were built in salt mines and are dedicated to Saint Varvara.

The salt mine is still used today for the extraction, processing and marketing of salt in Romania and abroad. Between 90,000 and 120,000 tons of salt are extracted annually.

Targu Ocna Salt Mine is located in the spa town of Targu Ocna in Bacau County.

The Bear game (in English "bear game") is an old and traditional custom, which is based on a legend hundreds of years old and takes place once a year in Dărmănești.
